WHO WE ARE
Thomas Jefferson High School aims to provide a safe, secure, and diverse environment that encourages students to be active, life-long learners. We do this by providing challenging curricular programs that foster inquiring, knowledgeable, internationally-minded, and caring young people who actively strive to create a better world through intercultural understanding and respect.

Between October 9-27, 2023, students in grades 6, 8, 10, and 12 across Washington state will take the Healthy Youth Survey. Scholars in Federal Way Public Schools will take the survey at their school site.
September 15 marks the start of National Hispanic and Latinx Heritage Month, a time our district and schools recognize the contributions, achievements, histories, and celebrate the many diverse cultures of people of Hispanic or Latinx ancestry who come from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.
The 2023-24 school year successfully kicked off on Wednesday, August 30, and it was a joy to see scholars pour into our buildings excited for the year ahead. Learn what's happened so far and what some students hope for the year.

On Thursday, August 17, Federal Way Public Schools hosted the fourth annual New to FWPS Breakfast at the Federal Way Performing Arts and Events Center, to give over 170 new certificated staff members a warm Federal Way welcome!

Federal Way Public Schools (FWPS) and the Federal Way Mirror teamed up at the Athlete of the Year Celebration to honor 16 scholar-athletes for their athleticism and hard work throughout the school year and name the top-voted male and female athlete as the 2023 Athlete of the Year.
June is LGBTQ+ Pride Month
Federal Way Public Schools elementary scholars participated in the annual Salmon Release at West Hylebos Wetlands Park, a culminating event to the annual Storming the Sound with Salmon program offered in partnership with the City of Federal Way.

National Native American Heritage Month is a time when FWPS district and schools celebrate the significant and countless contributions, rich and diverse ancestry, cultures, traditions, and histories of our nation’s first people.
Federal Way Public Schools acknowledge that our schools are on the traditional homelands of the Puyallup and Muckleshoot Tribes. FWPS recognizes that this land acknowledgement is one small step toward true allyship, and we commit to uplifting the voices, experiences, and histories of the Indigenous people of this land and beyond.
